Impeccable timing, Jodi - thank you. Lots to dive into on our train journey to Paris in the morning. In exchange, my art inspired fiction … I plan to loiter in front of the painting.
I love it! I’ve often stood in front of a painting - or even in a historic room - and wished that I was a fiction writer. It is definitely a painting worth loitering in front of!
Merci Jodi! I am heading to Paris later this month and I have bookmarked several of your recommendations. I can't wait to have coffee and buns in that pretty square.
Lovely, thank you! In fiction, try The Elegance of The Hedgehog by Muriel Barbary, a lovely story of an apartment block and its inhabitants. Non-fiction try Flanêur-The Art of Wandering the Streets of Paris by Federico Castigliano.
Art - anything in the Musée D'Orsay, but for one my favourites painters, Modigliani, go to the l'Orangerie and the Pompidou centre. Also the Rodin museum is wonderful and has a pretty garden and café.
I can never resist the little posh shops in Palais Royale for window shopping, and coffee in that square is good for people watching (as is almost anywhere in Paris!).
Somehow missed this a couple of days before a Paris visit (on my way back from London)—I went to the Musee Rodin and Petit Palais that day which were lovely; also had wanted to go to Place Vosges on my way in but it was May Day and I was cut off by riot police attending a protest…next time!

I have a little collection of art-inspired musings … imagined stories just out of sight. Limitless inspiration
Paris is a beautiful city and one of my favorites, been twice, but now I feel like I was there for a third time after reading this! ❤️
Thank you so much!
Um, can I go back, now? I like the way that you put this information together!
Thank you! ❤️
I love the Musee Carnavalet (on your list) but another one that I also really love is the Musee Bourdelle...
I’ve never heard of it! Thanks for the recommendation!

Have a wonderful time! I recommend Carette - it's a little splurgy, but the experience is totally worth it!
Nowhere better to spend a rainy day than the Musee d’Orsay
Totally agree!

Ah, wonderful! Thank you for the suggestions, June!
Lovely!
I agree about the Places des Vosges. A real gem.
Love this! I walk by that door every time I go to the American library (to usually drop off my overdue books and pay a fine).
That's exactly where I was going! :)

Always protests!! You'll have to go next time - it's such a pretty place to sit and read!
